So often, a new beginning comes not from a moment of inspiration, but rather from a critical incident that shows us that we need to take a different path. this quiet life is the product of such a circumstance.

On September 4th, 2019 I experienced an atypical migraine that left me locked in my body for several hours. During that time, I could see and hear everything that was happening, but I could not move or speak. For a brief period, I was also unable to breathe or swallow unless I was reminded to do so. Those hours of watching and experiencing the events of that medical emergency have changed my inner landscape in a way that I am still unpacking and processing. The experts say that my About Me page needs to tell a reader what problems my blog can solve for them. I’m here for one reason: to create a space for a community of people who are looking for quiet in a world that is full of noise and chaos. this quiet life is a place to explore what makes my life feel authentic and meaningful and quiet. I hope it empowers you to seek and find ways to bring more quiet into your life in some small way as well.

 

this quiet life is not a blog about migraines or chronic pain, though these things are part of my experience and so they will surface from time to time. It’s not a blog about faith, though my faith is a fundamental part of who I am, and so this will feature occasionally as well. I’m new to writing and to blogging and I’m uncertain where we will end up together, but I look forward to the journey.
